Hip Hop Distribution: Music Solutions for a Changing Industry

Fried Roots is currently working on audio projects as well as internet campaigns.  One of our sites is called Hip Hop Distribution, started by Mario Mendoza and Sundy Macalinao.  This site is a collection of resources we assembled because we found them helpful when we were seeking digital distribution at an affordable cost.  The blog describes the current issues at hand for the independent and allow for open discussion which in turn helps the independent movement.

Music distribution for Fried Roots took different roads for us.  We setup our own store on our band website and then moved towards digital distribution services.  Fried Roots tested out digital distribution services such as Songcast and Tunecore because they would put our music with iTunes and other online retailers.  The logic seemed simple with us, we would use the major retailers to give our label a little more credibility, so our fans could find a quick preview of our music on iTunes, Rhapsody or Napster and feel secure in payment with these major stores.

The main dilemma with distribution is that no matter where it is placed, you as an artist will still need to do major marketing to turn those albums into sales.  Hip Hop Distribution has a blog that discusses some of those marketing options.

Fried Roots has learned that simplicity is the key to these problems.  Simplify your goals and plan attacks to promote.  Daily research is proving to be key in keeping up with new ways to sell and broaden your fanbase.  Stop by Hip Hop Distribution and give us some of your feedback.

  1. It’s true! There’s no substitution for pushing every day to get noticed. We founded TuneCore because we figured, if you kept all your money and the cost of worldwide digital distribution was SUPER low, you’d have the time and means to put into promoting yourself.

That aside, TuneCore actually DOES promote folks, we just don’t charge you for it or claim a cut of your earnings.

    Holler if you’ve any questions.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  2. Simplicity in deed! In todays music industry, artist and bands should be well seeded online and fully rounded with partnerships.

That’s why MusicianPromote.com was founded. We not only promote your music on the Internet and connect you with music resources, We also PUSH your songs in the iTunes digital music store.

Our goal is to HELP take some of the pain away and simplify your plan of attack.

I’m here if you need me.
